The Hobbit - Official Film Titles Announced

New Line Cinema, Warner Bros. Pictures and MGM have announced the titles and release dates for filmmaker Peter Jackson’s two-film adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien’s enduringly popular masterpiece The Hobbit.  The first film, titled “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey,” will be released on December 14, 2012.  The second film, titled “The Hobbit: There and Back Again,” is slated for release the following year, on December 13, 2013.

Loving Me Some Netflix Streaming

Wow - how have I been missing this deal all this time?  For 7.99 a month you can watch all the movies you want.  Of course they don't have every latest new movie on the streaming plan, but there are a ton of great movies.  The kids have been going nuts watching Dragon Hunters, old Scooby Doo movies, Tom and Jerry, G-Force, Pingu, Pink Panther, etc. 

Between the hubster and I we have watched some cool martial arts flicks (Ong Bak and Ong Bak 2), Starship Troopers, Aeon Flux, Mortal Kombat, Buck Rogers. (Since hubster is home during the day doing his search for technology jobs, he has time to watch some movies)   I've watched some romatic comedies, too, but I will spare you the mushyness.

We are doing the streaming through the Tivo.  The first day we had a little trouble with it, but after that it's been working really well.  Right now we are watching My Cousin Vinny.  "Dead on Balls Accurate!"

Saturday Night Chit Chat

Tonight the hubstr went out to see "Let Me In" while I stay home with the kids.  I am not feeling too great today and not up for a horror move so it's not great loss for me.  I am happy at home with my Kindle and comfy bed.

I am pretty sure my killer head cold has turned into a sinus infection.  Ugh.  I am not looking for weight loss pills, and I pretty much consider antibiotics along the same level.  They screw up my stomach so much I only want to take them as a last resort.  But folks, I think unless I feel better by Monday the time of last resort has come.

 

My Top 5 Sci Fi Crushes

Forget sexy lingerie, my Sci Fi crushes area little bit more on the macho side. 

1.  Dr Who, Tom Baker edition.  Tall, dark, and alien.  But kind and cute in a non threatening way.

2. Spock, played by Leonad Nimoy on the original Star Trek.  I just know that I could bring out his emotional side if given a chance.  

3.  Han Solo.  Mmmmm...  Harrison Ford and that strong neck of his made my heart patter when I was younger.  He's still cute too.

4.  Captain Jack Harkness from Torchwood.  John Barrowman is just plain hot.  Probably one of the best looking guys out there and what a great marketing ploy - he's an equal opportunity hottie - likes guys and gals (and aliens).

5.  Wolverine played by Hugh Jackman.  I just plain old LURVE me some Hugh Jackman, in any form or way available.  The guy is a sensitive hunk who does yoga, loves his kids, meditates, and works out.  Add in an Australian accent and it just doesn't get any better than this.

SciFi Gift Idea - Twilight Fan or Goth Girl Edition

I realize that there is a whole bunch of Twilight swag out there.  Team Edward, rah rah.  But I have found a gorgeous gift idea - check out this mirror/shelf combination.  It is absolutely perfect for setting up your own personal alter.   Add some Votive candle holders on the shelf and place your family photos, Zuni Fetishes, Buddha statue, St Francis, or any spiritual and lucky items of your choice.

Then let the mirror reflect back the candlelight and meditate.  Om...

 

Watching Hancock

Hubby and are watching the end of Hancock right now.  I had heard a lot of negative press about this movie but I have really been enjoying it.  It's a very emotional movie, with some pretty deep themes about what it means to be a super hero and in fact what it means to be alive.  Why we shouldn't squander our abilities but use them towards be betterment of the world.

Its also a very funny movie so give it a try. 

The part in which Hancock goes to prison in order to rehabilitate his reputation is a pretty interesting plot mechanism.  By the way if you are looking for someone in the prison system you can consider the using Colorado Inmate Locator.  Of course my feeling is that if someone is in prison you're probably better off leaving well enough alone!

Ay yi yi,  They're making another movie out of the Incredible Hulk?  While I have a fondness for Bill Bixby, I just can't deal with cheezy CGI animation of angry hulk-ness.
