I didn't read anything at all today - struck down with a huge headache. You know I must be feeling bad when I can't even read or knit. Wahh. I just hope I can make it to work tomorrow. I do not want to be on ssdi. So anyway, here is a little roundup of what I am reading and looking forward to reading when my head feels better.
I recently finished "Kitty Goes to War" then latest Kitty the Werewolf book. I'm sad because I have now "caught up."
and I am almost done with the Sookie Stackhouse, "Dead and Gone" There's one more Southern Vampire (True Blood) book after this one. Charlaine Harris kind of went off the rails on this series, but I am still loyal enough to finish them out.
The next up on my list is Yasmine Galenorn's first in the new Indigo Court series, called Night Myst. The hubster is currently reading this one in dead tree edition, as they say. I asked him if he wanted one of the new Kindles but he is cool with paper books. He reads steadily, but no where near as much as I do. Come to think of it, the only person I know who reads as much as I do is my Mom. We're kind of scary that way. Read fast, read a lot. I bought her (well me and the rest of the fams) a Kindle for Mother's Day and she loves it. heh heh - I am a bad influence.
A new author and series I want to check out is The Stepsister Scheme by Jim C. Hines. It was an Amazon recommendation and it looks interesting. A take off on fairy tales, but the reader reviews sound positive. I sent a sample to the Kindle and will check it out.
Another one on my "check out list" is Shades of Milk and Honey. It appears to be an alternative history sort of Jane Austen with Magic mashup. Sometimes these things are good... sometimes not so good. LOL. So true. Again, I sent a sample to the Kindle so I can see if it sucks me in.
I recently finished Patricia Wrede's "A Matter of Magic" which is one of the original of this type of alternative Victorians. It's really good - and just recently re-issued as a combination of the two books Mairelon the Magician and The Magician’s Ward. (And now available on Kindle) They are actually YA titles but good enough for grown ups. Hey, I never discriminate against Young Adult books. I am the one who picked up Harry Potter from the kids section because I liked the cover back in the day before he went big.
