Here is an interesting new collectors card set coming out soon from the folks at Marvel - The Women of Marvel Hobby Box (2008 Rittenhouse) From a woman's perspective this is really cool to see all the female characters highlighted. From the guys perspectives it's sexy ladies in the comic artform. Win win situation!
I've been having fun listing and selling my Magic the Gathering cards on Ebay. Its fun to get a little extra pocket money, and they are so easy to ship.
I got some great feedback from my first auction of MTG cards! This is from a soldier over in Iraq who is getting ready to set up his own online store next year.

Dear mar1annec,
Hey
I just wanted to add an extra note conserning the Mox Diamonds i
puchased. Just wanted to say well done and thank you for a quality
item. Most of the time it is hit or miss when cards are listed as near
mint, and as a reseller i see it alot. Those cards you sent me are the
best quality i have seen through ebay purchases so far, I never list
anything as mint, but I would have to say these are pretty much as mint
as they get! I have added you to my favorite sellers and hope to
continue business with you! Thanks!
Oh and if you ever decide to return to the MTG world, i will have
an Ebay Store opening in 09 for singles an boosters : ) (shameless plug
i know)
One of the hottest google searches today is What Happened In Piedmont. There are a series of commercials on A&E purporting to be about this fictional town - no one answers the phone, the military is blocking the roads, etc. There is a website - a fake blog.
I am going to to use my SUPER POWERS OF DEDUCTION and put together a theory for you.
1. The commercials are running on A&E channel. 2. The fake blog is registered to A&E. 3. A&E has an uncoming Science Fiction show of the Andromeda Strain coming out May 26. 4. Piedmont, NM was the town used in the book Andromeda Strain (need to verify this)
Therefore I agree with those who have Digged this story and decided that that this is a publicity stunt for The Andromeda Strain remake coming to A&E.
A quick search of the WHOIS database (stores info on domain names) for 'whathappenedinpiedmont.com' shows the following:

I've had this idea cooking in my head for a while now to have Bookmarks printed up to advertise Sci Fi Jungle. I'd love to drop off stacks of them at our local bookstores, and libraries, for people to take if they need.
I had a guerrilla-marketing idea to actually go to the science fiction section of the bookstore and insert Sci Fi Jungle Bookmarks into some of the bestselling Sci Fi books. <insert evil genious laugh here>
I've used Vista print before, for my holiday "Cristmukkah Cards." They are a great low cost online printer, that frequently will email you free offers (just pay shipping) once you have bought from them. They've got a great deal on post cards - I could get 100 for just about $35.00 They would be great for a direct mailer, or moving announcements but I think would be too big for bookmarks. Or I could do business cards in a vertical format. They have a great price on business cards.
You can get custom Posty type sticky notes printed as well. Amanda says I should have those printed with Sluggo the Space slug and Aliens and sell them. Cute!
In my lifetime of almost 40 years on earth I have had a few brushes with what some might call the "paranormal." One of the most striking occurred while I was in college at Beloit College, in Wisconsin. While I was walking to a local night spot one evening I happened to be looking down at the road and saw a small sparkle. It was a piece of jewelry so I picked it up.
The item was in the design of a claw holding a black ball, worked in silver. I though, "Cool, I found a nifty pendant, I'll hang onto it." But almost as soon as I put it in my pocket, and then examined it a little closer I started to get a bad feeling about this little item.
I thought to myself, "Is it a Voodoo Chicken claw, a raven claw, an eagle claw? Why was it dropped? Who owned it. All of a sudden I just totally KNEW without any explanation that this was an evil item, and I had to get rid of it.
My friends kind of laughed at me, but they could tell I was serious. I didn't know how to get rid of it. I wouldn't give it to any of my friends because I just KNEW with CERTAINTY that somehow this physical item was associated with a bad thing that had occurred in the past and I did not want those bad vibes near my friends. I finally decided upon ceremoniously dropping the claw into the Beloit River, that night under cover of darkness. We went as a group and with a special prayer that the bad energy not follow me home I released the pendent into the water. (My very religious friend Caroline brought her bible and read a prayer from it to seal the deal.)
I am a scientific thinking, college educated person. However, I do believe that there are some things that science cannot yet understand. I think I should check out UFOGaGa, the site for Social Network about Paranormal and UFOs. Perhaps it would be a good place to tell this absolutely true story.
Maybe next time I will tell you the story of the Haunted Doll Hospital in Ben Lomond, California. If I can bear to even think about that scary day.
I will tell you that the spirit of my Grandmother has hung around with me. :-) Not scary at all. MWAH Love you Grandma!
And just in case this story did not scare you enough, I submit this video of an Alien Pug. A paranormal Pug from Outer Space. Get it? Really - this dog is a complete lunatic, just listen to her cough - you've never heard anything like it.
Thanks for the mention of scifijungle.com's Top 10 Sci Fi Comedy Movies on your site.
I didn't list Waterworld because its a totally serious work of art,
man, and not a comedy. Dude! I LURVE me some Waterworld. The only thing
better than Waterworld is "The Postman!" That is seriously one of my
favorite movies. Kevin Costner rawks in The Postman and I love the
young sidekick named "Ford Lincoln Mercury."
Nico Marquardt used telescopic findings from the Institute of
Astrophysics in Potsdam (AIP) to calculate that there was a 1 in 450
chance that the Apophis asteroid will collide with Earth, the Potsdamer
Neuerster Nachrichten reported.
No, we are not talking about Apophis, the Goa-ould character from StarGate, folks, this is an actual asteroid.
The 13-year old made his discovery as part of a regional science
competition for which he submitted a project entitled: "Apophis -- The
Killer Astroid." I hope he got an A. I also hope this thing does not hit us, because both Nico and the bigshots at NASA agreed that if it does...
The shockwaves from that would create huge tsunami waves, destroying
both coastlines and inland areas, whilst creating a thick cloud of dust
that would darken the skies indefinitely.
First of all I saw that movie Armageddon, and I really happen to dislike Liv Tyler. Second of all, I already was worried about stuff, now I've got another thing to keep me up at night. Third of all I am a bit concerned that random kids across the globe can do better MATH than the supposed experts at NASA using publicly available information.
Want a laugh - check out some of the comments on the SlashDot story about this. Some are really funny.
When the founders of the Coeur D'Alene Idaho real estate agency "Prestige Realty" chose the white House, located downtown, at 805 E Sherman in Coeur'D Alene, Idaho for their offices they not only were choosing their office space, but also saving a local historic monument from developers who had planned to tear down the home. Now they can enjoy working in a beautiful turn-of-the-century mansion downtown that also has the benefit of adjacent free parking.
Prestige Realty is a fairly new independent real estate agency in North Idaho. But don't think that because the company is newly formed, that the agents are new - the majority of their agents have been working in real estate for over 20 years. According to my web interview with the team, their focus is on exceptional customer service, taking the time to really understand the needs of their clients, and having the highest level of professional ethics. It was stressed that compared to other local firms, Prestige returns calls quicker!
Coeur D'Alene is located 30 miles from Spokane, Washington, in Northern Idaho, in what is called the Idaho Panhandle. To quote from Wikipedia:
The city of Coeur d'Alene has grown significantly in recent years due in part to a substantial increase in tourism, encouraged by several resorts in the area. Barbara Walters called the city "a little slice of Heaven" and included it in her list of most fascinating places to visit.
If its anything like the gorgeous photos on the Prestige Realty Of North Idaho web site I can believe that it is a "little slice of heaven."
Prestige Realty is offering a sales and buying program where they can give up to a $10,000 rebate at
closing to a buyer or seller of any home in North Idaho. More information for
this program can be found at Northidahorebates.com.
