Space 1999 Now Available Restored on BluRay

I remember back in the day I used to watch Space 1999 with my mom.  Back then my Dad refused to watch TV because he hates commercials.  Yeah, he's like that.  Mom on the other hand, likes funny commercials, watched basketball with me and listened to pop music.  Dad prefers classical.  LOL.

Anyway, I remember me and my mom laughing at how cheesy Space 1999 was, but we also liked it.  We laughed our butts off over the Linguina Monster aliens.  (I gather these were the Larren)

I think it would by hysterical to watch this series.  It took itself very seriously, while trying to cash in on the craze that follwed the success of Star Wars.  Along with Battlestar Gallactica, these were the two main shows that tried to catch the Star Wars fever.

So indulge an old lady in her compression stockings, and catch some of the classic goodness of Moonbase Alpha.

 

Weekend Mellow Waiting for the Snow

We have a forecast of snow and ice, which in Atlanta is very funny.  Everyone runs out for bread and milk, and stocks up on movie rentals.  We've been loving our Netflix streaming account, and here are 5 suggestions that I have added to our Instant Queue to keep us entertained throuh the cold and any bad weather that comes through.  Hey, does anyone in Atlanta really need  toro snow blowers?

Kicking It Old School with Indiana Jones

My sons watched Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull and really liked it.  So I decided that they needed to see the original movies in order to get the full effect!

So, time to pull out the home theater furniture, pop some popcorn, and have family movie night.  My sons are 7 and 5 - I realized that I remember going to see Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom with my good friends Sandy and Julie in 1984.  I was a high school sophemore.  Wow.  Julie and I both had a major crush on Harrison Ford. 

As a matter of fact, I always stated that my high schoo boyfriend kinda reminded me of Harrison Ford.  LOL!  He was a cutie - but don't tell hubster I said so.  Ummm... his wife is my Twitter buddy and she's been known to read my blog so sometimes it all works out for the best, you know what I mean?

As we get older, those good old days gain a little glow of nostalgia, and that's alright.  Especially since I know that my boys are getting the opportunity to share some of these same cultural touchpoints with me all these years later.

Pop Some Popcorn - We've Got Avatar!

Hubster got Avatar on Blu-Ray.  Ive got the hot air popper and Japanese hulless popcorn at the ready!  Woo-hoo, it's Avatar time.

I for one have little interest in 3D, but I admit that this movie was AWESOME in the theater.  I saw the regular version.  To be honest IMAX makes me dizzy and 3D gives me a slight headache.  Oh well, at least they still show the regular versions of movies as well.  I am such an old fuddy duddy I even have to sit in the back of the theater so the sound isn't so loud.  Sometimes they really crank it up so high I feel like I am at a Who concert.

Another benefit of watching movies on DVD/Blu-Ray at home - you can pause them and go pee whenever you have to.  Plus get snacks - LOL.

Anyway, off to check out some acnepril reviews before showtime.

Review: The Incredible Hulk 2008

I finally got a chance to watch the 2008 Ed Norton "The Incredible Hulk."  It was actually pretty decent.  Which is saying a lot for me, since I have a huge aversion to Liv Tyler. 

The plot was a bit weak, but the action was good, and the Hulk sequences were pretty cool without being so over the top that they were ridiculous (like a certain other version of the movie).  I loved when he is shopping for pants somewhere in the third world and is trying to buy stretchy pants.

I had a huge crush on Bill Bixby when I was a girl.  I liked the way Norton was channeling the essence of Bill Bixby just a little bit.  It was great to see Lou Ferrigno's cameo spot as the security guard at the University.  Lou looks freakin' fantastic, by the way.  I want some of what that guy is having.  What's his secret... fat burners, anti-oxidants, or just not being painted green and made to wear shreddy pants?
