Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to everyone out there.  If you're a Mom, Dad, Grandparent, Auntie or Uncle or just someone who has had a mom in their lives just enjoy the day.

One year I took my kids to the park on mother's day and it was funny because it was all the Dads there with their kids, and I think I was the only woman in the place.  LOL! 

My mother in law babysat for us on Friday night and I got to see Thor.  It was really a great movie and so enjoyable to get out with the hubster to see a movie with the kids safely at home.

Now, who's up for a game of golf on this beautiful day?  All the Dads have had to be treating Mom like queen so there probably are some tee times available.  Get your garmin golf gadget and get swinging.

Happy Birthday Sir Issac Newton

Happy birthday Sir Issac Newton.  As many people head back to work after the long winter holidays one thought is going through everyone's head - holy crizap, I don't want to wake up early and go to work!  That is for sure what is going through my mind. 

I have a head cold and it's freezing outside too!  Brr.  But I have the best job in the world so I will brave the elements and my tiredness to go out there and give them my best.  Bring on the safety products! Such as coffee. And 5 hour energy.

He likes to type, but as you can see, he lacks the effervescent writing style found in the musings of his dear parent.

Kids Say the Darndest Things, or Why I am Saving up for Law School Tuition

Here's one of those "funny things my kid said" stories for you:

During hanksgiving week I was working.  My hubster was home with the kids who were on school vacation, and my friend Melissa had the afternoon off.  So hubster and friend decide to take the kids to lunch.  After lunch they stop at Target and Jin stays in the car while Melissa takes the kids into the store to pick up one thing.

The kids know perfectly well that Target has a toy section and they start working on Melissa.  She says "You don't need any toys - you know there are kids in the world who don't have any toys at all."  My 4 year old Adam looks at her and without skipping a beat says "Yeah, what are there names?"

As you can see, I think I had better start saving up for Law School tuition.  I wonder if they have LSAT prep for 4 year olds.

Happy Anniversary To Me

13 years ago on gorgeous fall Sunday, the hubster and I were married in upstate New York.  Our wedding colors matched the fall foliage, and there were so many food stations the family didn't know what to do with themselves.  The band rocked out swing music, and a fine time was had by all.

To mark the event we did a little shopping today.  I got the second book in the Sookie Stackhouse (True Blood) series. Hubby picked up the Transformers special edition (the DVD box turns into a robot - for real!) and tonight after a nice dinner with the kids we are all going to pop some popcorn and watch Transformers 2.   This should be at least as fun as bringing out ping pong tables. 

Also various and sundry organizational items were procured at the local Ikea.  Yes, I got some Swedish Meatballs.  Yum.

What to Do in Bad Economy - Go Back to School!

I think the only segments of the economy that are booming right now are sales of Ramen, and the field of Education.  Our family's gainful employment index has now whittled down to a big fat zero.  So what are we doing?  Hubby is going back to school.

To be fair, he has been going to college part time at night for the past few years.  Since he joined me in the ranks of the unemployed victims of the economy last week, it made the most sense for him to primarily focus on finishing his degree full time.   Jin takes most of his classes online at Strayer.

My plan is to (finally) get a job and support the family, while Jin finishes school and watches the kids  after their school day is out.  Did I mention that I just applied for a job in Demoine, Iowa?  Nothing is off the table at this point.  Online school can be done anywhere, so we are able to relocate if need be.

I have been checking out one of the best online MBA programs at The University of Scranton.  This is an all online, full accredited MBA program.  It's even rated among the top 15 by The Princeton Review.  I have four MBA courses under my belt, from the U of R Simon School so I might even have a head start.
