Lost In America - My Small RV Plans

When I am trying to fall asleep I like the picture various retirement scenarios in my head.  One of them is a little condo on the beach.  I could walk the beach every morning with a metal detector and looks for doubloons.

Another thought is to spend a year traveling the country in a small RV.  If it wasn't huge I think I could handle a little house on wheels.  We could go from state park to state park and just camp out and see the entire USA.  Just like the Albert Brooks movie except perhaps without the messed up parts.

It's doable - you can pick up a small to medium sized RV and get an rv insurance quote, plan some reservations and go.

Third Book in Lindsay Buroker's Emperor's Edge Series Is Out - Deadly Games

The third book in The Emperor's Edge series is out.  Called Deadly Games, it follows the further adventures of Amaranthe Lokdon and Sicarious as they try to gain the trust of the Emporer by fixing problems and kicking butt at the Imperial Games.

At the great price of 3.99 too!  It has a lot of 5 star reviews.  Lindsay Buroker is one of the new crop of authors that are being wildly popular self publishing at reasonable prices.  She does steampunk in a very accessible and well written style.  I like they way she has done her own world building so I don't have to get aggravated by too much of the anachronisms that seem to plaugue a lot of Steampunk.

Enchantment, Inc.

I am reading a book called Enchantment, Inc. by Shana Swendson.  One of my favorite book blogs - Smart Bitches, Trashy Books, had a reader asking "What Ever Happened to Shanna Swendson?"  Apparently there are 4 books published in this series and she wrote the 5th but her publisher wimped out and didn't publish it.  All kinds of readers commented, begging her to self pubblish the 5th book because they loved the series.

I was intrigued and got the book.  Not cheap, but I am LOVING it.  It's a kind of Bridget Jones meets Harry Potter, and lots of fun.  The main character Katie is immune to magic, this making her a valuable employee at the corporation that manufactures and distributes spells for the magical market.

The writing is very good, and the story pulls you in.  Turns out that working for a magical company has a lot of the same corporte politics and challenges as any other company - but a lot more excitement thrown in.

I am about 1/2 way through Enchantment Inc. and will let you know how it goes.

 

 

Free Paranormal - I Dream of Genies

This one is a bit madcap but I am reading it and haven't given up so far.  Not the greatest I've come across in my life, but if you are in the mood for some light fun reading with a genie who busts out of her bottle into the arms of a cute guy then this might be the freebie for you.
