I have a confession to make, I thought this was a free book and accidentally paid $2.99 for it. I was kind of pissed at myself, but since it was on sale I didn't ask Amazon for a refund and started reading it.
I figured that a book about a succubus was going to be full of gratuitous sex scenes. Books about the Fae where they are humping everything in sight usually annoy me (I guess I am old fashioned about some things - go figure) and I assumed that a succubus would be worst of all.
I was pleasantly surprised - Georgina is a reluctant succubus, brought to the job by an unfortunate series of events. She avoids feeding from nice guys and seeks out scummy ones so she doesn't shorten the lives of good men. She has the ability to shift her shape, even dress in any clothes she wants. She dresses sexy, has an irrisistable charm, and knows how to use it. (That would be pretty cool - to be able to take on any shape and outfit you want... discount lingerie here we come.)
There is a plot involving her meeting her favorite author, but not being able to pursue a relationship with him out of wanting to protect him. I love the way they make the arch demon of the area and his staff into a sort of petty bureaucracy - hysterical when she wins an award from the demons and its an Applebees gift certificate!
The book has a light, funny, tone and the plot keeps on moving. I plan to keep reading the series - so it was a good mistake.
