I had an extremely fruitful fantasy haul at my local Goodwill this week. Not only did I find Raven's Shadow, by Patricia Briggs, but also its sequel in "The Raven Duology," Raven's Strike. I was in fear that that was a third book that I did not get a hold of, but there's just two.
I started reading this book today and became completely sucked in. I had a headache (I suffer from some seriously bad migraines) so I was having "Mommy Quiet Time" as we like to call it around here. The hubster supervised the kids who played pretty nicely together this afternoon and I crashed out with my book. It's really good so far. I like both the hero and the heroine very much. While in the fantasy mold, the characters are painted vividly enough to make it not formulaic. I am enjoying the adventure and character development.
