With the economy in the tank, its time for the good old fashioned fun of getting the family together on the living room couch, popping up some popcorn, and watching a movie. So pull up your seat in the home theater and watch.
Since the demise of the late night monster flick, and the availability of great DVDs from Netflix, Amazon, or your local video rental joint, it makes sense to order a movie. Its a ton cheaper than GOING to the movies and plus you can pause it for those oh so important potty and snack breaks. (Just wash your hands please)
Here are some good looking films on DVD that fit the bill for silly family Sci Fi fun.
Spaced Out (2006)
Starring: Butch Patrick, Robert Z'Dar Director: Scott Grenke
A low budget Sci Fi spoof, newly available on DVD. The reviewers on Amazon give this lots of stars and it looks quite funny.
Repo! The Genetic Opera (2008)
Starring: Paul Sorvino, Anthony Head Director: Darren Lynn Bousman
What happens when filmakers set to to make a cult classic? In this instance they seem to have succeded. In this rock opera the spirit of Rocky Horror lives. In the future you can buy new organs on credit. But what happens if you don't pay your monthly bill?
The Forbidden Kingdom (2008)
If you have not seen Jet Li and Jacki Chan in The Forbidden Kingdon, run do not walk to the video store and rent it. The fabulous family friendly kung fu story centers around the story from the classic Chinese tale "Journey to the West." So you have the Monkey King, and familiar elements of that story.
