I was just in the garage letting my kids go "toy shopping" for things that were in storage, and I came across my 10 year old binder of Magic the Gathering Unglued cards. Jin and I went through a period of time when we were really into the game, and even signed up for a league! (Oh my goodness, the nerd level was high there my friends. I remember being the ONLY woman there with all these teenage guys.)
I thought the Unglued set, which was a total send off of the game, was so funny that I started to collect an entire set. I never did complete the set - I couldn't get a "Squirrel Token" card, or "Landfill."
Well, having found this in the garage, I said to myself, "self, let's see if those missing cards of mine might be for sale on Ebay." Miracle of miracles - they were. I just did a "Buy it now" auction on the Squirrel Token and made a $2.03 bid on the Landfill card.
Once I have a complete set this thing could actually be worth something. I saw where one completed Ebay auction went for over $100. Since I took these out of the booster packs and put them right in plastic sleeves they are in near mint/excellent condition. Woo hoo. It might not be the first issue of Superman or anything like that, but maybe I have finally collected something and seen it appreciate in value.
